  • Unexpected Push-ups

10 push-ups at any time was an unexpected convenient toffee-like measure.

And now I do push-ups at unexpected moments. Just 10 at a time. Without any burden of doing any given number of sets or number.

  • 10 Push-ups

I’ve stopped eating chocolates. Not that I was eating a lot earlier, but whatever I used to, I’ve cut down on that too.

10 Push-ups is my new toffee. I’m going to binge on that it seems.

  • Lists for Google

Google likes pages that are lists. Even if the lists are really bad, we tend to click and check… Lists pretend to exhibit understanding. Google likes pretensions. Often.

  • Impatient eyes

I make lists, only to find out that my mind and my eyes aren’t patient enough to run through those lists ever again.

It is like making these lists are just warming up activities and not the anchors that I often took them for.

  • Swift and Focused?

    Swiftness forces you to focus.

Being swift without focus, how does that work? Have you seen someone like that?

    Focus isn’t always spelled out.

  • The face of a Vlogger

Does the voice of the vlogger keep us from getting bored with the face?

Or is it the face itself that keeps us from getting bored?

Or is it the content emerging out from the face, shaped by the voice that keeps us from getting bored?

Or does one feel like being face to face with the vlogger, like in a classroom listening to the ramblings of a funny teacher?

    Vlogging is a big deal.

  • Can this be called ‘favorite hobby’?

    Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

It has been difficult to find things that are ‘absorbing’.

Finding things that are absorbing, absorbs me. That kind of situation.

  • Wall

Wall is a strange surface, especially the one that is painted flat with any silly color of paint.

And then the surface of a wall becomes a perennial reminder, a perennial invitation to fill it with something that is not wall.

After you fill it up, it is never satisfying. Have a beer, two, three or more, so that the wall doesn’t disturb you.

  • About ‘holding a grudge’

    Daily writing prompt
Are you holding a grudge? About?

    I think I do. Many grudges. And then I think I don’t.

‘Holding a grudge’, phrasing this way feels like it is a deliberate conscious act/action/activity. And because of such phrasing, we may also end up thinking we can ‘unhold’ a grudge.

There are ways of looking at a ‘grudge’, even treating it. But just because there exists some ‘grudge’ doesn’t mean we are ‘holding’ it. :)

  • Names of Connected Units

Well, ever since I’ve gotten into what one might call ‘work life’, I’ve wanted to ‘plan’ my work and have gotten bored every time I have tried adopting some method to do some sort of planning.

Lists? Absolutely boring but I do it when the necessity arises and I sense there’s no other way to get a grip on things.

I’ve found a way to list, my own way. Kind of similar to Mindmaps but different at the same time; mine is faster and less gorgeous.

The title says it. For any task, write down the names of connected/associated units. What does that mean? Sounds like rocket science. Oh no, it doesn’t.

The principle is, once you remember the first word for the task, note it down. And then note down all the people, things, moves associated with that task. You are done with planning.

  • Habits & Movements

Many new purchases force folks into new movements.

Movements depend on habits. Or is it the other way? Habits depend on movements.

Make a new move, feel good, make a new habit. That’s the challenge for start-ups.

Now how many moves can folks fit into their day?

  • Being Data-driven

Data-driven is like ‘running faster and faster’ to remain in the same place.

The magic lies in change. Data is being used to induce more and more consumption of weird thing.

Message scales. Messaging changes, one little at a time. Data is working against messaging.

  • YouTube is SoundTube

I use YouTube as SoundTube. I scroll to find videos that can run while I am doing my stuff. Scrolling takes more time than doing stuff. It is silly.

  • Love, Silly, Whatsapp

    Dear Razia Sultan,

Things have changed. They were messy in your time? I want you to take birth again, and see what it is like right now. You may have to learn quite a few trivial things to do anything important in these times. Okay, I can tell you a lot of things and you may understand nothing; it is not a comment on your intelligence. It is just the way things are.

So what will you say using these 3 words?

  • Digital Storage Place

Since we say Storage Space, it struck me what could be Storage Place.

In the world of non-digital matter, Storage Place can be said to stay alright for eternity. Almost, for practical purposes.

Can there a term like Digital Storage Place? But what can then be said about the longevity and durability of Digital Storage Place? We surely know, it isn’t any close to eternity. If it isn’t eternity, can we bear the costs of non-eternal Digital Storage Place?

  • Tailors to In-store Readymades to Online Readymades

The sequence below is hypothetical but powerful in its simplicity to reveal the tragedy that is garment selling and shopping in India.

Sometimes even tailors got the fit wrong in spite of all the measurements. And most of the times, tailors didn’t have the fancy skills to match the desires, visions and fashions.

In-store readymades changed that. Plenty of variety, plenty to try in front of the mirror and variety of looks to pick from. The errors in ‘tailoring’ and ‘making’ got obscured by the sheer number available to try and fit into. Even if one unit didn’t fit, you could try another unit of the same design and it would fit.

When they started with online readymades, they kept the errors in ‘tailoring’ and ‘making’, removed the facility of ‘trying’ any number of things to get into a good fit, and instead started tom-tomming variety of lacs and crores of units.

Selling fashion online is tragic for a lot of people, sellers and buyers both. But then tragedies consume time and the time spent in contributing to tragedies eventually flips them into happiness. Starting up over and over is happiness too.

  • Mindset

Woman puts in a lot work to prepare some luscious food. Family enjoys the food but fails to appreciate and compliment her. Woman feels bad.

Woman wants to look great. Wants to go to gym, wants to buy lovely dresses and jewelry.

Pays the gym for her own effort.

Pays the boutique for designer’s and tailor’s efforts.

Wants to pay for silver, but not for the effort to turn silver into lovely jewelry.

We’ve interacted with thousands of Indian women like that in the course of running Mississippi Earrings.

  • Big Software

How big a part does big software take from an employee’s working time every day?

Is there a way to compare such times?

My hypothesis is that an organization that demands a lot of such time every day is already less effective or will be less effective very soon.

As good as the argument above sounds, it still feels vague but important nonetheless. Still a few terms to be defined and observed.
