  • The Fight against Dust

In your fight against Dust, dust wins.

You have to find a protocol to enjoy Dust, to live with it and make it beautiful.

This is a difficult one many Indian women.

  • Repetition

The other words for repetition are habit, routine, job, business, breathing, processes, sleeping, home, office, work, practice, mundane, boredom, bureaucracy, sitting in front of your desktop/laptop, picking mobile phone and scrolling, clicking selfies, listening to favorite songs, mugging up for exams… Can you think of more? May be, I can think of more.

    Repetition.

I came across an amazing expression a few days back: unidentical repetition. Can you think of examples? Reading, perhaps. Procreation.

Let me throw at you this expression: Exciting Repetition.

    Enthusiastic Repetition?

I have had a hard time being enthusiastic about repetition. To be this way is to be melancholic.

  • Stories

Stories always meant moving and motioning.

Carvings and sculptures required us to move, non-metaphorically, on our legs in space, to hear and imagine all the stories, narrated by self or someone else.

And personal stories were hidden in all sorts of objects. Visiting and revisiting the objects meant retelling the stories to ourselves.

Books required us to sit. Eyes read and voices worked with the written letters and words. Stories would have to be heard often in our heads, silently.

Motion pictures move the images, stories and voices while we keep sitting. The stories fall into eyes and ears. They fall. We do not work as much to tell and retell the stories.

  • Visuosonic Process

    Reading is visuosonic process.

I am misleading you. A little bit.

    It is a sonic process.

    What is a ‘word’?

It doesn’t change when you are reading, writing or speaking and listening.

While reading you are looking at a word?

While writing you are creating a word in a visual shape?

While speaking you are creating a word in some sound-like thing?

While listening you are hearing a word in se sound-like thing?

After you look at a word while reading, that looking creates a sound. Without that sound, there is nothing. No word, no meaning.

    Look serves the sound.

  • Ugly Feet

It is easy to find sources of ugliness. And the ultimate source is one’s own body! No?

You can find fault with your face, your fingernails, your tummy, your bums, your feet.

Short people with small feet, they tend to like longer shoes.

  • Improvement

Couple of days back I wrote about HABIT EXTENSION.

    What constitutes a habit?

Movements and whatever is between movements. I relish the pauses between movements but then here I am referring to movements more so.

I want to liken Movement to Action. And interchangeably use these words. Though I understand that Action sounds seriouser and heavier than Movement. In other ways, political especially or cause-driven, Movement feels heavier than Action.

Habitual Movement Extension. You are extending habitual movements when you say you are extending a habit.

    Habitual Action Extension… Hmm…

  • I got this

    I got this.

There is this popular expression WORKFLOW. I liken it to Business Processes. Correct me if they are different.

Repetition of WORKFLOW makes or breaks your chances of mastering the workflow; that phenomenon in which you are moving satisfactorily and elegantly into and out of your work. Demands consciousness (Jaynesian sort), or conscious attention, at least till you get a hang of stuff in the initial few repetitions.

And then we all know what’s HABIT. Seen simply, it is a mastery of certain ways of doing and thinking, supposedly not so sophisticated as what constitutes WORKFLOW.

    Let me cut this short.

    List all your habits.

And list the end points of your habits, the last movement, the punctuation where the habit is treated to be over.

And then consciously, deliberately, add a move that extends the habit; it is like adding a phrase, a clause or extending a sentence with some more words using commas.

See how it gives a different shape to your routine, even to your WORKFLOW.

See how such experiments take you close to that elegance only a master can exhibit.

I call this HABIT EXTENSION. Note that down.

  • Repressed Emotions?

I just came across a Youtube video titled “How Repressed Emotions Trigger Autoimmune Disease”. I think I believe it.

So if you have any autoimmune disease, it would be right for you to ask, “Has any emotion been repressed?”

The next question then is, “Which is that emotion / which are those emotions that have been repressed?”

Obviously when you ask such questions, you will attempt to answer in words.

So the next question is, “Is it possible to identify and name the repressed emotion(s)?”

It is a big deal. It is worth the exercise. No?

  • Head Spins & Price for Blogging

    I see what’s happening.

Early morning Youtube bingeing spins my head. The sounds, voices, background music… Quieter mornings are better mornings.

Blog-portability is an issue. Have you ever tried doing that?

If I want to preserve these thoughts I type on this wordpress blog, I shall have to pay for the storage every single year. No?

I can write all such stuff in my notebooks (paper notebooks I mean) but then I can’t share with you, I can’t spread the stuff I write. I have to pay a price to spread, to share.

  • The new way to shop…

Sorry, and congratulations, if you already do it this way.

Search for something. Visit FB and Insta frequently in the coming days. Click on ads that appear related to your search. More ads will come your way with more options related to your search.

You get to scan through the options. May be then you make your decision.

Online shopping is convenient but it has started taking time. And that’s not such a bad thing.

  • Machine Operators

    WordPress is a machine.

    Facebook is.

    Photoshop is.

    Windows is.

    Excel is.

We are machine operators. Who knew! Not a bad thing if you could show off your operating skills. Trouble is, we can hardly show off.

Now that we understand that we inadvertently have become machine operators, and we have proven pretty adept at that, let’s get our hands on some other machines and see if we like ourselves. See if we like ourselves without much to show off.

  • First Original Tune

I hummed my first song-like, original tune while I was 55% asleep this afternoon.

    I have forgotten it now.

It was original. That realization made me fall 100% asleep.

Strange are the ways of the mind… Am happy however. This evening, I wondered if only my dreams were my most original creations!

  • Vlogging

Early morning I tried arranging my camera and equipment for vlogging.

I was happy to notice that I have the stuff using which I can vlog. And I really don’t need to spend on extra stuff. Need nothing urgently at least.

And doing a few trials made me realize that I talk slow. And linking thoughts quickly is not that smooth for me. And I would have to practise and build a habit of looking into the cyclopic lens and talking for longer durations.

    Good start though.

  • Fantastic News

You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

The delivery of amazing news typically happens through the mobile phone.

I stop what I am doing and planning to do. Rise up on my feet, walk a bit in whichever space I find myself in, step out in the sun, walk a bit longer, and then daydream for some more time, and then start photographing more earrings.

  • Data on Addiction

    It just struck me.

Internet and IT-driven companies of all kinds harp so much about amassing data and analyzing to make their ‘strategic’ moves.

I read and observe that so many of us, perhaps a huge huge number, even safe to say that a good majority in certain age-groups, are addicted to checking mobile phones.

I take it that ‘addiction’ of any sort is undesirable. Unpleasant.

So, if so many of us are addicted, of course the data that gets accumulated is one of addiction. So these internet and IT-driven companies want to analyze data that’s full of addiction data, and make their moves based on this addiction data to solidify our addiction.

    Fantastic!

  • Return on Window Shopping

So you are able to collect a lot of data on Window-shopping.

Now you believe, that this data, in combination with easy debt, can make you sell 10 times or 20 times or 50 times of a category that would usually not sell as much.

Ha! That converts any category into an FMCG-like thing… Fast Moving XYZ. Fast Fashion, for once, a solid example.

So this huge quantity of data on Window-shopping has offered every marketer a chance to spray ads and reminders (with obnoxious abstract English and meanings) on Gmail, FB, Insta, Google, Whatsapp, and whatever other ad-dependent app frequently used.

Am pretty sure there are ‘Negative Returns’ once the frequency of Window-shopping crosses a certain limit, for the buyer and for the marketer both. And therefore, there would be ‘Negative Returns’ on data collected on Window-shopping too. And there would be ‘Negative Returns’ on all the processing and mulling done on the data collected on Window-shopping.

There can be a burst in ‘buying’ of a certain category, but beware of the thinking that tends towards FMCG-marketing. Enjoy the bursts, but can anyone stop the data-processes?

Returns on Window Shopping, that we must call as RoWS.
Negative Returns on Window Shopping, that we must call as NegRoWS.

  • Steps

    Planner

    To-do list

    Productivity Tools

    Bullet Journal

None of these expressions and names convinced me. Something about them makes the coming moments, the day of work feel so heavy. Yaaaaaawn!

Couple of days back, the expression ‘steps’ struck me. Born to take steps. Woke up to take steps. Filling the day with steps. Dynamic and hope-inducing.

    Next steps?

    List of steps?

    Steps today?

    Steps yesterday?

    Steps towards?

Do you some difference? What’s your sense?

  • Machine Operators

The Digital Camera is a machine.

The Mobile (Smart, am sorry) Phone is a machine too.

The photographer, it turns out on many occasions, becomes a machine operator. Operator is paid for operating the machine, mind you.

The Smart Phone user is also a machine operator. Useless one, often.
