I read and hear many people say ‘D2C Brand’ in introducing or talking about certain businesses.
While showering just a while back, I asked myself, ‘What is a D2C Brand?’
When customers speak about a brand, do they utter these exact words, ‘D2C Brand’?
Conveniences in semantics and sentence-forming gives rise to such expressions and somehow many people adopt these and utter them naturally.
One doesn’t know when this little adoption of innocuous or exact-feeling expressions becomes a distortion, a barrier when opportunities to present a business arises.
What good is a D2C Brand for buyers and consumers? What good is it for you to utter that yours is a D2C Brand?
How many are reading and how many are writing for SEO?
That reminds me, I was reading a terrific book on reading before my June trip. Got to resume that. Reading.
The fight isn’t between brands. It is between categories.
And ‘what’s the category’ keeps changing.

Imagine the inability to organize at all, neither with family members, nor with strangers.
Scrolling through Youtube feed and I realize that it doesn’t have to be this way.
Every video has a subject written in text. These subject-lines can be stacked like subject lines of emails are stacked in the email inbox.
One would say, but then you don’t get to see the poster of the video. Fair. But think about it. Would it make a difference? Or poster plays a bigger role than the subject-line? In fact most posters representing videos on Youtube are quite garish.

Can you and the person you are chatting with understand the same color using the same name or expressions?
A new message extracts a new business plan.
But folks don’t have messages.
And some folks don’t talk either.
Data-driven is like ‘running faster and faster’ to remain in the same place.
The magic lies in change. Data is being used to induce more and more consumption of weird thing.
Message scales. Messaging changes, one little at a time. Data is working against messaging.
Whatever made this process of marketing to be called ‘branding’. Of course, even burning money in repetitive advertising for the purpose of branding often doesn’t make branding happen.
Suppose we leave aside the ‘burning money’ phrase and focus more on messaging. In that case would it be worth calling the process ‘etching’.
Then the language changes weirdly.
I own the brand.
I own the etch?! Oops!
A certain absolute amount is necessary for one to stay in business or to stay in a good spirit to continue pursuing one’s curiosities.
At what volume of business or work do you secure that absolute amount?

The subject line is the title of one of his books.
When you search with that title in some search engine, more amazing titles come tumbling out.
