  • Revisiting

In my internal talk I’ve maintained that I have a hard time revisiting anything.

Revisiting is a big part of practice, of preparing.

And yet, the truth is, I do revisit. But it is the revisiting of unpleasantness so often. No revisiting for practice or preparing.

Strange. I’m revisiting WordPress dashboard so often to see what I can do with this machine. I can call some of it as practice surely. Okay, good consolation for this post.

  • Trying the Post-type called Chat

Wow! If missing details is also a skill, I am quite skilled in certain ways.

Never noticed that there is a post-type that WordPress offers that’s called Chat. Intriguing.

As I am typing this, I find really no difference. But I sense it would show a bit differently to the viewer once published. Let’s see.

Am commenting to see how this post-type works. Is it any different from a regular post?

  • So, Funky Yellow is the background color. And for now this is the theme. Usability feels slick, though all the reading matter hides behind the first page.

  • Surprise!

I was staying away from this theme somehow. Tried plenty of them. For now, this pleases my eyes. I don’t mind it.

Name of the theme is Disco!

  • Bring Back the P2 WordPress Theme

What a machine the P2 theme was! Yes, if theme could be called a machine, P2 was an example, just as Twitter is.

Hey WordPress, do you read such posts out of the millions every day? And do you treat such posts seriously enough? Is my pain yours?

  • No, you can’t ‘like’ these posts on the first page. You can comment.

  • I write for the reader, not for the sight-seer.

I find these themes abominable, most of them. Such big typefaces and ridiculous layouts.

  • Interesting. I wasn’t aware so far. One of the competitors of WordPress is Concrete5.

    ‘Aside’ looks like this.

  • I’ve got to figure out now how Group works. What is the meaning of Stack, Column, Row… That will help me use this Blank theme and Query Loops better.

Grouping is an important part of data analysis andGrouping can be done in many ways, one common way is by using the Stack and Column properties on a data array. Each time a data array is created, the Stack property is set to the value of the first column in the array and the Column property is set to the value of the second column. This way, when data is entered into a data array, the first column is always used to store the data and the second column is used to group the data.

  • With the loss of the P2 WordPress theme, writing status updates have become a little process. It shouldn’t have been like this. But now it is.

And now when I post, I have to leave the ‘title’ space empty. I wasn’t conscious of ‘leaving it empty’ earlier. Now I am. On the admin side these posts show as ‘untitled’. Bad!

What a treasure WordPress Reader is! After such a long time, I come to make use of it to amuse myself.

Hmm… Categories you define beforehand, Tags you can’t. Categories you see as checkmark boxes, Tags you don’t. Categories could be prompts. Tags, not quite, unless the template allows for viewing tags in advance.

Viewed on a laptop screen, the size of the menu, especially the horizontal one on the top, restricts the main categories you may show; categories may be arranged in a nesting.

Categories and Tags are good for revisiting; on the Twitter timeline go tweet by tweet.

    “You’re on a 3-day streak”

Huh! I didn’t pay attention to understand what it meant so far.

What a delight, few taps turning into words and then that magnificent gesture of pressing the ‘Post it’ button. Publishing, just like that.

This theme P2 has to be made mobile responsive. Let me try pushing a request through to the wise WordPress guys.

Imagine, requests have to be pushed. Such times!

It’s interesting that I am pummeling WordPress using its very own system. At least this running commentary is easy to do with this template. Let me not say WordPress is all bad. Heck, but I wouldn’t pay such amounts for the way WordPress and arrangements surrounding WordPress work. Let them make a bomb of monies from the world. Not from me. Thanks!

I’ve asked for a refund from siteground.com. I’ve decided to withdraw. I don’t like arrangements surrounding the wordpress CMS. It may be world-famous and dominating and this and that but I clearly see issues of transparency and simplicity, though of course the entire world finds WordPress simple. Bull! A whole lot of bull!

Astounded to know WordPress has such a huge market share in the CMS and website building space. That one CMS can command such a share is not a surprise. It happens in any market. But that WordPress quality of CMS and the arrangements surrounding WordPress have such a share is the big deal.

I shall be looking at alternative ways and means of doing things. This is pure ripping!
