Can sitting be a habit?
Schools make it a habit. And then offices do.
There goes life. Into sitting.

If I can’t spend time on moving my body, I refuse entertainment that occupies my time and makes my body sit.
Right now, the default position is indoors, i.e. sitting at my desk. To do anything away from the desk, I’ve to get up on my feet and move.
Suppose I adopt my default position as standing/sitting outdoors, and I move from there to do whatever I need to. So, if it is a desk-oriented task, I step into my studio, finish it and go back to my default position outdoors.
Sounds tough. Can’t bear this way of sitting either.
Sitting while reading is tolerable. Sitting while waiting for other things or clicking, tapping stuff on/for the screen is just so frustrating.
Waiting does not mean sitting.
Patience does not mean sitting.
For your body, a beam-time of sleeping is better than a beam-time of chair-sitting.
Sitting involves plenty of movements.
Variety of sittings.
Chair-sitting inspires the least movements.
Reminder, there is a variety of ‘sitting’. And sitting-on-chair is perhaps the worst kind.

Most educated folks won’t apply for the job if they read it’s a non-sitting job.
There is a huge variety of sitting. Sitting-in-Office-Chair is the most ridiculous one.
Let me shorten it to SIOC.

Hope emerges in weird ways.
Having a big long work table top, having a good keyboard, keeping good distance between the screen and myself, having a chair that allows my legs good a amount of freedom, give me some hope I shall be able to learn new things.

How did sitting become such a culture? How is it that sitting for long durations for work considered normal?
It all starts with the classroom. Barely 4 or 5, and kids are sent to sit in classrooms. Continues till well into mid-20s.
