  • Strange Ways of Discovering Quality

I’ve been using this Philips trimmer-shaver for quite a few years now.

Only this morning I powered it with this brand new battery, Eveready Ultima Alkaline.

My trimmer-shaver never ever worked this way. Never ever. Never ever. And I never got a better trim than this.

All the while I used Duracell to power this gadget. And all the experiences of using this made me feel like these trimmers-shavers behave in a certain ‘non-satisfactory’ way; that’s the way they are built, that’s the limit of their performance, no matter the brand or company.

Today’s experience with this Eveready Ultima Alkaline changed it all. Only now I get it that the gadget was actually made for such a performance. And only today I was in a position to experience and compare the performances.

I thought Duracell was the best; the gadget was built like that. Turns out the gadget was built for a super performance and Duracell was the culprit.

It didn’t have to be this way but it has turned out this way. Even with all the awareness and heightened senses, it takes time to discover what’s quality.

Remember, Eveready Ultima Alkaline. No, I am not paid to promote this but the drastic difference in my shaving experience makes me write for it.

  • Machine Operators

The Digital Camera is a machine.

The Mobile (Smart, am sorry) Phone is a machine too.

The photographer, it turns out on many occasions, becomes a machine operator. Operator is paid for operating the machine, mind you.

The Smart Phone user is also a machine operator. Useless one, often.

  • Software Operator

Machine Operator, that’s a common expression.

    Software Operator? Nobody uses that.

They say, ‘Familiarity with xyzware is a must.’

Is Operator a downmarket expression? I think it captures skill and efficiency nicely.

  • SaaS, again a misnomer

SaaS, how beautiful the word looks. No?

The full form is Software as a Service.

Didn’t I tell you in an earlier post that software is a machine? Remember?

Right, so then it should read Machine as a Service.

That sounds like the business of selling and servicing cars. No? Machine as a service! ‘Service’ earns more than the machines for the car companies. Recurring. Except that the upkeep of cars does require ‘service’.

Now I can debate that ‘software requires service’ is as true as ‘car requires service’.

Machine as a Service. Hmm… Assuming the idea conveyed by this expression is digestible, what’s the cost of such a service? Answers are unpleasant.

  • Indiamart is a strange machine

In some other posts I wrote, software is a machine.

In this post, I must write, website is a machine.

And platform is a machine too.

I’ve been working all day on some or the other thing to understand how Indiamart works and how I should shape our business’ presence on the platform.

If you understand that words are a headache, understand also that Indiamart is a strange machine.

  • Machine Learning

Humans making machines learn, that’s one thing.

The other thing is humans learning machines that humans have made for humans to learn. Or, humans making humans learn machines made by humans for humans to learn. That’s Machine Learning too.

The sentences above may be complicated to read but important to read and understand.

Unfortunately, since software had to be differentiated from hardware and from the machines generally called machines, we called software software. Software is machine. And all kinds of software means all kinds of machines. Most of these machines are badly used currently. We must learn. Machine Learning.

  • Trying the Post-type called Chat

Wow! If missing details is also a skill, I am quite skilled in certain ways.

Never noticed that there is a post-type that WordPress offers that’s called Chat. Intriguing.

As I am typing this, I find really no difference. But I sense it would show a bit differently to the viewer once published. Let’s see.

Am commenting to see how this post-type works. Is it any different from a regular post?

  • A few minutes on ProductHunt

Wow! So many folks creating so many machines.

All machines geared for SEO. Mind boggling. Folks writing inane reviews to show how bad the machines could be.

WordPress doesn’t have the theme that truly thrills.

Jetpack is compensating for the lack of front-end post submission that I desire.

  • Bring Back the P2 WordPress Theme

What a machine the P2 theme was! Yes, if theme could be called a machine, P2 was an example, just as Twitter is.

Hey WordPress, do you read such posts out of the millions every day? And do you treat such posts seriously enough? Is my pain yours?

  • Hmm… The more I understand, the more I understand that how little I understand. Online stores are expensive if you don’t understand the software (or these machines they call software).

  • I’ve got to figure out now how Group works. What is the meaning of Stack, Column, Row… That will help me use this Blank theme and Query Loops better.

    One response to “”

    1. DFY Magic Themes Avatar

Grouping is an important part of data analysis andGrouping can be done in many ways, one common way is by using the Stack and Column properties on a data array. Each time a data array is created, the Stack property is set to the value of the first column in the array and the Column property is set to the value of the second column. This way, when data is entered into a data array, the first column is always used to store the data and the second column is used to group the data.

What a delight, few taps turning into words and then that magnificent gesture of pressing the ‘Post it’ button. Publishing, just like that.

  • Oh these ecommerce CMSes are so sleep inducing…

Oh, these ecommerce CMSes are so sleep-inducing. Takes a lot of time to learn the funny skills of operating these complicated machines. And words that make up the language that make us use these machines, you don’t want to deal with them. They obscure it so that they can take the money to operate the obscurity on your behalf.
