What if Mills & Boon titles were literally translated in Hindi? The title beside is Untamed Cowboy. Some initial responses were:
Bekabu gaay ka bachda
Bekabu gaaywala ladka
Finally, we agreed on:
Bekabu gwaala!
We haven't hit the nail yet. What do you think?
bekaabu gwaala is sure the closest…
another close indian counterpart of “cowboy” is “Gopal” (as in the god krishna).. but this not only doesnt capture the spirit of a “cowboy”, it rather deviates from it heavily..
if we were to try and catch the spirit of the title.. i might suggest replacing cowboy with some such community name in india that is known to be wild, rough, rustic and aggressive the way cowboys are… i cant think of many, may be someone can suggest ;)
