  • Why is it called so?

Sharing a couple of pictures, taken from the internet, before making my point:

A comparison image showing two types of shoes: on the left, a shoe labeled 'Wide Toe Box' with a natural toe shape on a green background, and on the right, a shoe labeled 'Wide Shoes' with a boat-shaped design on a red background.
Collage of images showcasing various types of shoes with wide toe boxes, including barefoot shoes, sandals, and sneakers, highlighting their natural toe shapes.

They call these shoes, which accommodate your toes and natural shape of the feet without scrunching, ‘wide toe box’ shoes. They’ve also been calling them barefoot shoes for quite long.

Both are misnomers. They imply the acceptance of the boat-shaped shoes as ‘normal’.

Huh! Never in the history of our evolution humans have had boat-shaped feet. Boat-shaped shoes are not normal. Not natural.

It is these newer ‘wide toe box’ shoes which have natural-looking and natural-feeling toe boxes that are normal. Most natural. And therefore, they aren’t ‘wide’. They are exactly as I’ve been trying to say. Natural. Natural toe box. Yeah?

We got used to wearing the non-normal boat-shaped shoes. Only now we’ve started adopting the natural toe box shoes. Long way to go. Have you stepped into the natural ones?

  • Bio-Shape Shoes

This is as close as it gets to bio-shape shoes in my experience.

I have worn different models of FiveFingers over the years. The first pair which was just like the pair in the pic above proved to be the most durable and amazing while doing my running and other activities.

I see that an Indian online seller is promoting these shoes actively and folks on Facebook make fun of the shoes or the price or both. Amazing! They haven’t experienced anything like this yet and price turns them off to such an extent…

We need more Bio-Shape shoes. Folks across the world, especially in certain countries in the west, have done a lot of work promoting shoes that can be called close to Bio-Shape shoes. In India, we are yet to see good action. Imports are available but nothing much home-made or home-grown really.

  • City can shape you?

In how many cities have you stayed for a considerable time?

    How did they shape you?

Could you feel that a city shaped you in a certain way?

You want to change your shape? Would you change your city?

  • Where is the research?!

Indians who wear shoes, do not understand their feet.

Indians who wear shoes, believe that the shape of shoes does not impact their body.

Indians who wear pants, do not understand their skin.

Indians who wear pants, believe that the shape of pants does not impact anything other than their look.

You nut, I wear both, shoes and pants. And I am Indian. And I am right here comfortable in both. You don’t know shit.

Your claims are not backed by research. Your claims are not scientific. Become a scientist, research and then I will evaluate your assertions. If your assertions are not in fashion, you can never be scientific enough. Get lost!
