By sitting for hours and trying to listen?
Or, by moving intensely for a few moments and then writing about our experience?
What makes us learn better?
morning boy's letters on serious matters and commentary on funny things aplenty
Dear Razia Sultan,
So my motion through chin-ups has gotten so much better. Am pleasantly surprised. Took quite a long time to come to this. I wouldn’t have imagined such a long time, but then I didn’t keep a track of progress in motion and time, both. I just kept doing different variations and tried to improve the counts.
Did you keep a track of your age Razia Sultan? How would you have measured the impact of your incredible political moves?
Here I am just happy with my chin-up counts.
Organizing, when it becomes a memory, becomes a ‘set of elegant movements’, and becomes efficiency.
How many postures does your body slide into while reading? Made a count?
The last Hemingway sample I read, I remember descriptions of movement. I couldn’t concentrate. It challenged my reading speed. And my comprehension of words in succession standing for movements. Disturbing.
It’s not enough for the laptop-screen to be off. The screen has to be folded down on to the keypad. Only then I am safe from the invitations of the laptop.
The number of moves we are willing to make in the service of elegance.
Movement, sitting on the floor, movement, sitting on the floor, movement…
The above is vastly different from this below:
Movement, sitting on the bed, movement, sitting on the bed, movement…
That’s why folks have bedroom.
Motion pictures can’t make you still.
Your own motion can.
Sleeping – 8 hrs
Standing – barely or less than half an hour in the entire day (apart from standing for the purpose of lifting weights)
Sitting – You can imagine!
Moving on 2 legs – 1.5 hours hopefully (apart from moving for the purpose of lifting weights)
I won’t be surprised if Yoga emerged as a negation of standing, and accentuation of sitting for the purpose of good health, and experiencing a lot of moving without moving much, because it is quite obvious that we can’t move all through the day. Do farmers Yoga? Does the roaming vegetable vendor Yoga?
That 9 sq ft space I reclaimed for myself for the purpose of home workouts has actually made quite a bit of difference otherwise too. My space feels spacier and I feel good about moving into this space.
