Without a purpose, you may stay sitting
Without a purpose, you may not stay standing
morning boy's letters on serious matters and commentary on funny things aplenty
Without a purpose, you may stay sitting
Without a purpose, you may not stay standing
Without a purpose, you may sit
Without a purpose, it’s hard for you to stand
If you reduced your sitting time, what would you do with that non-sitting time?
How did sitting become such a culture? How is it that sitting for long durations for work considered normal?
It all starts with the classroom. Barely 4 or 5, and kids are sent to sit in classrooms. Continues till well into mid-20s.
There are two types of sitting:
I’ve had experiences with doctors who were annoyed with me attempting to understand what exactly was going wrong with the body.
Some very difficult measurements but being aware of such measurements may just help the body’s state of being:
Wow! I could articulate such measurements.
I tried simulating the-saddle-chair-sitting on a normal chair, opening the legs wide out, keeping the level of knees much lower than the hips while sitting, and yes I could see that my spine automatically got into a natural erect shape. It works just like that.
Important to adopt the saddle-chair-sitting for usual working days, now that I’ve observed this through a simple simulation.
Motion pictures can’t make you still.
Your own motion can.
Lying (180 degrees, horizontal orientation)
Reclining (135 degrees, horizontal orientation)
Sitting (90 degrees)
Standing (180 degrees, vertical orientation)
There are varieties of Lying and varieties of Sitting.
Varieties of Sitting are determined by what are we engaged with or in.
Sleeping – 8 hrs
Standing – barely or less than half an hour in the entire day (apart from standing for the purpose of lifting weights)
Sitting – You can imagine!
Moving on 2 legs – 1.5 hours hopefully (apart from moving for the purpose of lifting weights)
I won’t be surprised if Yoga emerged as a negation of standing, and accentuation of sitting for the purpose of good health, and experiencing a lot of moving without moving much, because it is quite obvious that we can’t move all through the day. Do farmers Yoga? Does the roaming vegetable vendor Yoga?
That 9 sq ft space I reclaimed for myself for the purpose of home workouts has actually made quite a bit of difference otherwise too. My space feels spacier and I feel good about moving into this space.
9 sq ft of precious real estate I have reclaimed for my home workouts. Miraculous!
61-push-up session to begin the day. Night filled with sleeplessness and reading. It’s okay, it’s okay. Biceps building and bulging.
Motion begets motivation.
Motivation begets motion.
Which sounds appropriate?
So much effort to motivate, so little motion.
Today is definitely a 100 push up day. I won’t do it in a session. But I shall do it in a day.
My short list for the day:
Barbell
Weight Plates
Independent squat racks
Bench
Barbell holder / storage rack
Weight plates holder / storage rack

I found all sorts of names in different images. Now I need to figure the exact muscle or spot where the niggle is… Let’s see.
